Is the human race in danger? Have we advanced so far technologically that it is possible for an AI to control all computers?
For those of you who have seen the Terminator movies, you will know what Skynet is. For you who haven’t, Skynet is AI, Artificial Intelligence, that is bent on wiping out the human race.
As of now, Project Natal hasn’t reached the capacity to become an AI, but it is mighty close. It has no release date yet, but it will be released to compliment the Xbox 360 without using a controller. How it will work is using a small box with Motion sensors, a 3D camera, depth sensors, and a microphone, which provides full-body 3D motion capture, facial recognition, and voice recognition capabilities, removing any need for a controller.
The possibilities with this are endless. Currently the biggest concept for Project Natal seems to be Milo. An interactive Computer child. This game is able to recognize voices, faces, and even moods. With gaming like this, why return to the controller? Even the Wii can’t compete with something this revolutionary. Even with the versatility of a Wii and the many controllers, Project Natal will have the same, if not better, games. Without the controller to hinder your gameplay, you no longer have to worry about dead batteries, or the signal messing up. And you wont have to go out and by a controller for every different type of game you own!
Imagine it, you can play First Person Shooters, Sports, other games like Milo, and Real Time Strategy. The options are endless! Without having to get used to a new controller, you can just pick up a game and play! No more fumbling over which button to press, no more cramps from playing too much, no more controllers!
Luckily for us, Project Natal and games like Milo, are based on algorithms, so no matter how much they learn, they can only learn what the programmers tell them to learn. So we are safe… for now.
